This concept is possible only based on the design of Tauchain presented by Ohad. In his design for Tauchain he highlights the fact that any member of the social network will be allowed to input their worldview. It has been discussed by myself previously that moral values could be an important part of Tauchain in this setting.
A Value Area Network is a concept I'm introducing which is designated to mean a kind of network where all participants are matched according to shared values. These participants in the network (economic agents, bots, machines, humans, companies, whatever) should in theory be allowed to outline as much of their current values and as long as all participants are deemed to be in alignment by the consensus algorithm of Tau then they will be considered part of unified network.
The acronym VAN can be designated to stand for Value Area Network, not to be confused by Value Added Network. Unlike a LAN (Local Area Network) which is based on physical geography, the VAN is based on "social geography". People who are closer to each other socially on the moral and "concerns and values" level would represent a sort of shared location. In social science the concept of social proximity is defined mostly in geographical terms but in the digital age with a technology like Tau in existence the idea of closeness might not have to be restricted to the geographical definition.
Closeness in terms of how close your values align to another participant in a network would represent a distinct place on a sort of map. This distinct place would be represented or quantified by a score which indicates it's potential location on a spectrum of possible locations. Of course the mathematics behind this would have to be more clearly defined in future posts but this post is to introduce the concepts for future discussion.
My concerns and reasons behind thinking up VANs is based on that fact that while social media today does a pretty good job connecting billions of people to random people it also does a horrible job connecting socially compatible people to each other. It's not good enough to connect a bunch of random people. People want to connect to people who have compatible values with themselves as their values are constantly updating over time. Tauchain in theory is the only platform which is expected to have the features to make this idea a possibility.
Values in this context could be negotiated from or derived from beliefs or worldview using Tau discussion. The values then would over time be updating as the person updates their beliefs or worldview. This would be to go the emergent route of letting Tau try to identify the values of the participant based on what the participant said in discussions (avoiding contradictions). The other would be to let the participant explicitly enter their current values and over time let Tau help them to constantly update that over time.
These are features I hope to see developed over Tau in some form some day. If I'm in the position to bring these features into development (provided AGRS works as intended) then this could be one of my contributions. The key mechanism behind this feature would be a novel matchmaking algorithm which leverages the Tau Shared Knowledge Base and reasoning capabilities. The social values map feature could be deduced via the discussions had over time or it can simply be a checkbox setting where the participant chooses by checking boxes and sliding scales.

Just building tools isn't enough anymore
The biggest problem in crypto right now in my opinion is that while we clearly have a lot of brain power in our space allocated toward technical development (including Steem, EOS, Ethereum, Tauchain, Tezos and more), we at the same time see very little brain power being allocated toward both marketing and business management. People often build fancy tools with the idea "if we build it they will come". In fact this is in my opinion the main mistake I see in the crypto projects which were not outright scams. They are building the tools or in some cases built the tool but the consumers or users never arrived.
In the early days of crypto when most of us were crypto geeks it was enough to just build fascinating new technologies. People did not care if those technologies made money for token holders because that was the era of experimentation to show what could be possible. It was a time before SEC and other regulators swooped in. It was a time before Facebook, Google, Twitter, and other companies began banning crypto ads. In a sense it was simply an easier environment for a lot of reasons to get investment (ICOs) or to attract users (Facebook and Google marketing allowed).
Today crypto and blockchain projects have attracted the attention of regulators and are seen as outright competition by other companies. The experimental phase seems to be coming to an end and now people want to see business use. Now people want to see token prices begin going up over time due to real growth in demand for the products and services exclusively offered in exchange for those tokens. When we see that only a few hundred users are playing cryptokitties or on Steem seeing user growth decline and retention decline, then we have to accept that it's not the technology which failed but the business management.
Agoras must be good for business
Agoras if it gets built will be a major technological achievement in the crypto space. These achievements are great but in order for AGRS tokens to rise in price there must be demand for them. Basic microeconomics shows us that there are economic agents who must be appealed to. For example households represent a category of economic agents who function as consumers. Agoras has to provide some critical product or service that every household needs and cannot get anywhere else.
A novel product or service which requires using the Agoras token. Zennet for example is a computational resources market which offers services in the form of computational resources. This is good but we have to recognize that SWOT analysis needs to be conducted. SWOT analysis is Strengths, Weakensses, Opportunities, Threats. In business, SWOT is used during the strategic planning phase. Agoras if it is going to grow to billions of users will need many use cases. It will have to be business friendly from the start (not just nerd friendly). People like you or me will have to be able to use Agoras to launch some unique business which we cannot build on AWS using hacks. The problem is we see projects already trying to offer computational resources and none of them seem to be attracting lots of revenue. We have the Enigma Project for example which will be offering a data and computational resources market, we have iExec which will be offering a computational resources market as well, and we have Golem. None of these projects so far have attracted many big or small businesses because none of them have attractive products and services which are worth buying at this time.
In other words, early developers in the Tau ecosystem will have to put a major emphasis on making sure that Agoras is good for business. This is at least my opinion on what should be done strategically because if not for the business genius who would be using Apple computers, or using Facebook, or Google? Or Amazon? It's not that these companies offer novel technology but what they do (particularly Amazon and Apple) is they learn from the data what their customers want or need then they simply offer well marketed services and products. The tools which have to be built in my opinion need to be the tools to help people launch and automate the running of their businesses. ICOs only raised funds but didn't help people actually run or automate the business.
Some ideas below on how current spare brain power can be allocated to help Tau
The above two examples do not require a Phd in computer science and mathematics. Anyone can pick up a book on behaviorism and microeconomics. Anyone can watch videos and read the latest articles on marketing. Anyone can conduct the SWOT analysis for example. Not everyone has to be a programmer and in the current crypto industry we can see the limits of what programmers can do.
Note: The knowledge/skills in economics and marketing apply even if Tau never is completely built. This means it's likely to be in demand from the very programmers we see now making the tools with no customer demand and no understanding of why. Remember these tools have to do something most people on earth want to win demand from most people.

What might a Tau Operating System via a Tau Social Dispersed Computer function like?
We know from tauchain.org that the first iteration of Tau is to be a discussion platform not too dissimilar from Facebook. Of course this would simply be the front end or the "face" of what could behind the scenes evolve toward a social dispersed computer complete with a dispersed operating system. The resources have to be managed and a kernel could provide for this in a manner not dissimilar to what we see with EOS. The Agoras or AGRS token specifically represents "resources" as it is the tokenization of resources for whichever application Tauchain will use.
TML provides the basis from which to create the necessary languages to produce a dispersed operating system computer. Zennet even has an algorithm which Ohad himself worked on for the purpose of calculating the resource requirements. All minds will be able to contribute towards the computational resources (at least in theory) of Tauchain.
Because of Zennet there may in fact not be a limit to the amount of computation resources which we could throw at the super computer. It will of course depend on resource management which is where a kernel likely comes into play because any smart apps built to run on Tau will have to ask for resources. Resource management is one of the core functions of a kernel and of an operating system which is why I think it is likely that Tauchain will have one. I think the Ethereum route shows problems with scaling as applications also have to compete for resources in a way where the network cannot self manage it. Cryptokitties for example can render the whole Ethereum network lagged and if this is a computer then it could mean a nonsense app could disrupt more critical apps.
A prime example of a potential smart app for Tauchain
An example (which may or may not be feasible) is a health and fitness app. The app in theory could allow any user to provide data such as genetic information, blood test results, exercise tracking, blood pressure, blood sugar and anything else. All of this could provide a feedback loop back to the patient on how to improve their health over time based on the knowledge of Tau. As technology gets better the users could add more devices to provide more data for a better feedback loop. As technology evolves FGPAs could be added to meet the demand for calculations and storage can be rented as well.
An operating system could give priority to this kind of app by load balancing the resources. How would it know to do this? Tau could learn the morals, legal ramifications, and a consensus can emerge that health related apps deserve a premium access to resources because it can save lives.

Social Dispersed Computing
What is socially dispersed computing? It is an edge oriented computing paradigm which goes beyond cloud and fog computing. To understand socially dispersed computing we first have to discuss dispersed computing and how it differs from the previous paradigm of cloud and fog computing. The current trend toward decentralized networks which we first saw with the peer to peer technologies such as Napster, Limewire, Bittorrent, and later with Bitcoin, have brought to us an opportunity to conceptually new paradigms. The original model most people are familiar with is the client server model which was very much limited in that the server was always vulnerable to DDOS attack. The client server model has never been and could likely never be censorship resistant.
In the client server model the server could simply shut down as was the case with Bitconnect or it could be raided. The server could also be shut down by hackers who simply flood the site with requests. As we can see from the problems the client server model presented we discovered the utility of the peer to peer model. The peer to peer model was all about censorship resistance and promoted a network which was to have no single point of failure (single point of attack) which could be result in the shutdown of access points to the information. One of the first applications for these peer to peer networks was file sharing networks and networks such as Freenet/Tor etc. This of course eventually evolved into the Bitcoin which ultimately led to the development of Steem.
In dispersed computing a concept is introduced called "Networked Computation Points". An NCP can execute a function in support of user applications. To elaborate further I'll offer something below.
Consider that every component in a network is a node. Now consider that every component node is an NCP in that it can execute some function to support some user application. If we think of for example a blockchain then we know mining would fit into this category because it is both a node in the network and it also can execute a function in support of Bitcoin transactions. Why is any of this important? Parallelism is something we can gain from dispersed computing and please note that it is distinct form concurrent computing. When we rely on parallelism we can reap the benefits in terms of performance when executing code by breaking it up into many small tasks which can be performed across many CPUs.
EOS attempts to leverage parallelism specifically to enable it's performance boost. The benefit is speed and flexibility. Think for example of the hardware side also with FGPAs which can do similar tasks of a microprocessor. FGPAs (not ASICs) which unlike ASICs would provide generalized flexible parallel computing. Consider that just like with mining a company could add more and more FGPAs to scale an application as needed.
To understand Social Dispersed Computing we have to make note of the fact that there are other users at any given time. For example the other users in the network participate to provide resources to the network for the benefit of other users whilst using the network. So in Steem for example as you add content to Steem you are adding value to Steem in a direct way, but also in a dynamic way. The resources on Steem also can adapt dynamically to the demand provided that the incentive mechanism (Resource Credits) works as intended.
EOS as an example DOSC (Dispersed Operating System Computer)
Because EOS seems to be the first to approach this holistically I will give credit to the EOS network for pioneering dispersed computing in the crypto space. All resources are representable by tokenization in a dispersed computing network. EOS and even Steem have this. Steem has it in the form of "Resource Credits" which represent the available resources on the Steem network. If more resources are needed then theoretically the resource credits could act as an incentive to provide these resources to the Steem network. This provides a permanent price floor to Steem represented as the amount of Steem which would have to be purchased in order to have enough resources to run Steem (if I have the correct theoretical understanding). This would put Steem on a trajectory toward dispersed computing.
Operating systems typically sit between the hardware and software as a sort of abstraction layer. This traditionally has been valuable because programmers don't have to directly speak to the hardware and hardware designers don't have to directly communicate by their designs to the programmer. In essence the operating system in the traditional model is centralized and made by a company such as Microsoft or Apple. This centralized operating system typically runs on a device or set of devices and provides some standard services such as email, a web browser, and maybe even a Bitcoin wallet.
Typically the most valuable or high utility software people consider on a computer is the operating system. In our smart phones this is Android OS and in PCs it may be Windows or Linux. This is of course thrown on it's head under the new paradigm of dispersed computing and the new conceptual model of the "decentralized" operating system. EOS is the first to attempt a decentralized operating system using current blockchain technology but the upcoming technology easily eclipses what EOS could do. Tauchain is a technology which if successful will leave EOS in the stone age in terms of what it will be able to do. EOS while ambitious also has had it's problems with regard to the voting mechanisms and the ease at which collusion can take place.
To better understand how decentralized operating systems emerge learn about:
If we look at OSKit we see that it is the tools necessary for operating system development. If we look at Tauchain we realize that it is strategically the most important tool for the development of a decentralized operating system being provided in the form of TML (a partial evaluator). If we think of the primary tool necessary to develop from we have to initially start with a compiler. A compiler generator is more like what TML allows with it's partial evaluator. More specifically it is the feature of Futamura projection which can provide the ability to generate compilers.
If we look at the next most important part of an operating system it is typically the kernel. Let's have a look at what an exokernel is:
Operating systems generally present hardware resources to applications through high-level abstractions such as (virtual) file systems. The idea behind exokernels is to force as few abstractions as possible on application developers, enabling them to make as many decisions as possible about hardware abstractions. Exokernels are tiny, since functionality is limited to ensuring protection and multiplexing of resources, which is considerably simpler than conventional microkernels' implementation of message passing and monolithic kernels' implementation of high-level abstractions.

From this at minimum we can see that an exokernel is a more efficient and direct way for programmers to communicate with hardware. To be more specific, "programs" communicate with hardware directly by way of an exokernel. We know the most basic function of a kernel in an operating system is the management of resources. We know in a decentralized context that tokenization allows for incentives for management of resources. When we combine them we get kernel+tokenization to produce an elementary foundation of an operating system. In a distributed context we could apply a decentralized operating system in such a way that the network could be treated as a unified computer.
Abstraction is still important by the way. In an operating system we know the object oriented way of abstraction. Typically the programmer works with the concept of objects. In an "Application Operating Environment" an "Application Object" can be another useful abstraction. Abstraction can of course be taken further but that is for another blog post.
The Utility of Agoras
Agoras+TML is interesting. Agoras is the resource management component of what may evolve into the Tau Operating System. This Tau Operating System or TOS is something which would be vastly superior to EOS or anything else out there because of the unique abilities of Agoras. The main abilities have been announced on the website such as the knowledge exchange (knowledge market) where humans and machines alike can contribute knowledge to the network in exchange for the token reward. We also know that Agoras will have a more direct resource contribution incentive property in the form of the AGRS token so as to facilitate the sale or trade of storage, bandwidth or computation resources.
The possible (likely?) emergence of the Tau Operating System
In order for Tauchain to evolve into a Dispersed Operating System Computer it will need an equivalent to a kernel. Some means of allowing whomever is responsible for the Tauchain network to control and manage the resources of that network. If for example the users decide then by way of discussion there would be a formal specification or model of a future iteration of the Tauchain network. This according to current documents is what would produce the requirements for the Beta version of the network to apply program synthesis. Program synthesis in essence could result in a kernel and from there the components of a Tau Operating System could be synthesized in the same way. Just remember that all that I write is purely speculative as we have no way to predict with certainty the direction the community will take during the alpha.

Agoras is getting listed on a new exchange.
Tauchain is a blockchain that doesn't have its own coin just like the Internet, but Agoras is a project that is designed to be built on top of it, hence the existence of Agoras Tokens. It's the only closest way to be able to invest in Tau. The demo is coming soon, but the blockchain itself will only come into fruition in year 2020 or later, so this is really more of a notice for those who are interested to support the project at this relatively risky stage.
For your information, this project has one of the fairest distributions in the space as the team behind it only reserved 3% of the total supply for themselves. At the moment, it's available on Bitshares / Openledger under AGRS (make sure it's the correct asset if you're looking into it).

Awesome visual promotion design by @capitanart for my only other favourite blockchain project besides Steem. Tau for the win! Might sound overly dramatic, but life has never been the same ever since I came across the following statement back in 31st December 2017:-
"Consider a process, denoted by X, of people, forming and following another process denoted by Y. Tau is the case where X=Y."
Say hello to our little friend above. It's the formula for intelligent decentralized networks. I'd really like to write more about this all day and night, but it's just difficult talking about something without a product to inspect. Regardless, it's still very real in my head because it has been shown to be a technical possibility. Is this the alpha protocol, the e=mc2 of blockchain technology?
Good news: there's something to show soon. It looks like the MVP release is on the horizon. New code just out on https://github.com/IDNI/tau. The author, Ohad Asor also remarked "the code is written. now i have to fix its bugs."
At only 384 lines of C++ code, what could it possibly demonstrate? If this is indeed the first instance Tau Meta Language (TML), it would then need to be re-written in TML itself for the next significant stage in development. The blockchain space has been flooded with over-hyped projects claiming to be "game-changers." While the fact of the matter is that most are nowhere near as revolutionary as their marketing campaigns make them out to be, there are a select few that actually do have the potential to serve as platforms for unprecedented transformation of industries and society.
One such project that's been overlooked by many due to being very early on in development, highly technical in nature to the point of being near-incomprehensible to most without extensive computer programming experience, and not yet given any real publicity as its small team has been focused on proof-of-concept before marketing:
For these main three reasons, Tauchain has been flying quietly below the radar.
Yet, the few who've invested the time in understanding what exactly this project is and the potential implications of its successful deployment seem to agree: this could very well be "the next biggest thing" - as unprofessionally overly-sensationalistic such a phrase may be - since Bitcoin and Ethereum came onto the scene...
Up until recently, there was a mere handful of individuals following this project, spearheaded by acclaimed genius Israeli developer, Ohad Asor.
A child mathematics prodigy enrolled in university at age 12, Asor later began working on the project after discovering the core concept via a colleague. Putting his brains to work programming what might come to actualization as one of the most significant breakthroughs in computer programming, his work on Tau utilizes the foundational advantages of blockchain technology in tandem with a highly-innovative programming meta-language and knowledge economy, the implications of which may be impossible to sum up in any single piece of writing.
To-date, the direction of the project has not been on the business side of things, but the development of code itself. (A noteworthy differentiation from the majority of blockchain projects which have prioritized polished whitepapers and flashy ICO first). Thus, little focus has been given to articulating the expanded vision for its practical applications in everyday, non-technical language - only a very few with the background to understand the technical complexities, able to see the potential impact of its completion.
However, as attention towards the Tauchain has grown, there has been a increasing distillation of the project essence & vision into language more-accessible to the non-technically-inclined. And the consensus is in: this is a project to keep an eye on for very good reasons.
As the above vision and description - sourced from the main website - summarizes above, the key essence of Tauchain is enabling the scaling of discussions and collaboration.
Why is this so important?
Social media has allowed billions of people to connect across the globe, chat, and share information. Yet when it comes to effectively collaborating and solving society's greatest challenges, the current generation of social media platforms have not proven as suitable tools.
Yes, we've formed groups and forums to have conversations. Though what generally tends to happen as a result of those threads? Not much. There can be a great deal of information conveyed within them; however, the more people that join, the more crowded the spaces become, the denser the fog of information listed in linear threads there is to sort through, and there are generally no organizing principles or structures by which that information can be put properly into place within action plans for solving large-scale problems requiring elaborate exploration and consensus on a great amount of interconnected details.
To ground that down from a more abstract conceptualization to something more tangible...
Not only are there all sorts of scattered discussions across multiple forums and social media platforms regarding societal challenges such as those outlined in the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals, there are an estimated 10 million Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) directed towards a vast variety of causes relevant to those same (and different) goals, as well as countless educational institutions and research organizations working on different projects and initiatives highly relevant to the work millions of those others are. However, despite the tremendous amount of common aims and goals, the majority of these distinct groups, institutions, and organizations are largely operating siloed from one another. And even within themselves, there are countless bottlenecks limiting the extent of effectiveness in successful collaboration.
To-date, large-scale projects collaborative projects - such as the Human Genome Project, for example - have required billions of dollars worth of investment to establish the infrastructure for sharing data across vast networks of institutions and organizations. Yet, for the millions of groups working towards solving other various challenges, such a scale of infrastructure which would successfully enable global collaboration between thousands of other stakeholders in shared societal goals remains inaccessible.
This is part of the value proposition Tauchain presents: providing a foundational technological stack/platform which could effectively serve as a bridge between a limitless number of individual and/or groups requiring the scaling of discussions essential to developing the strategic architecture of solutions to a broad range of challenges - complete with sets of features and functions birthing entirely unprecedented opportunities. (Which may not be quickly or easily seen, explained or grasped upon first glance).
While there may be a great deal of complexity to these features and the possibilities created through their introduction, we shall hereforth attempt a simplified overview of the few most pertinent, beginning with those listed on the website...
Sure enough, for those of us not highly-inclined in the technical intricacies of computer programming, these descriptions may not paint a clear picture. Though even if understanding what all that means, that's still merely the tip of the iceberg and far from enough to get a firm grasp on what all is coming together with this development.
While the full scope of writings available on the Tauchain blog, as well as the collections of writing by @dana-edwards, may begin to better-articulate the breadth & depth of functionality & capabilities, this is but a brief summary of key points as understood by this author through a limited amount of research:
The core innovation: Tau Meta-Language (TML).
a language intended to define other languages and translate between them while maintaining the same information. TML allows seamless communication and semantic translation between programming languages, knowledge representation languages, visualization and organization formats, domain-specific languages, and more.
Or in other words, TML is a development which shall enable not merely a direct translation between language - as a basic conversion of English to Mandarin, for example - but the extraction of MEANING from a wide variety of types of language, both verbally spoken/written and those utilized in computer programming, such that the knowledge encoded within language may be stored within a repository and easily accessed (whether for use in basic inquiries, consensus-derivation, collaborative research projects, Decentralized Autonomous Organization functions and smart contracts, or other) irregardless of the language an inquiring person or program may speak/read or be programmed in.
The scope & significance of such an unparalleled breakthrough is difficult to overstate.
Whether in the worlds of conventional everyday language, computer science, industry-specific subdomains with a complex variety of customized organizational models, niche institutional arenas housing their own bodies of knowledge in unique formats, or far less formalized groups & cultures utilizing constantly-evolving slang in their internal communications - there exist thousands of languages being used across the globe within a range of systems designed for the facilitation of solving all sorts of problems. Yet despite many of these serving their purposes well within the boundaries/limits of their systems/organizations/communities, many of their consequential accomplishments exist in isolation from one another, separated by language barriers - whereas multiple groups working towards similar ultimate ends would immeasurably benefit through the synergy of sharing, combining, and leveraging each others' developments in collaborative efforts.
One aspect of TML (Tau Meta-Language) is to serve as a bridge between parties operating in different languages - to remove those language barriers preventing/slowing effective communication & collaboration - such that all contributed knowledge and data sets may be compiled into a single database, accessible to all (permitted) parties and available for utilization in programs or context of a different language than originally contributed in.
(Yet still only one of many aspects, one single component enabling numerous other functionalities of the systems which could be built upon Tau's broader technology stacks.)
This concept of a semantic translator paired with a shared knowledge base itself is not new. One such comparable project, possibly the largest of its type, would be Cyc:
“Cyc is the world's longest-lived artificial intelligence project, attempting to assemble a comprehensive ontology and knowledge base that spans the basic concepts and "rules of thumb" about how the world works (think common sense knowledge but focusing more on things that rarely get written down or said, in contrast with facts one might find somewhere on the internet or retrieve via Google or Wikipedia), with the goal of enabling AI applications to perform human-like reasoning and be less "brittle" when confronted with novel situations that were not preconceived."
However, while Cyc appears to be a developed by a privately-owned company and is geared towards offering enterprises custom-tailored solutions - including but not limited to research analysis assistance, information extraction and dissemination, compliance monitoring & situation awareness,and infrastructure & resource management - Tauchain aims to be an open-source public platform upon which anyone is free to develop. And another KEY distinction differentiating it: Tau is hosted on a blockchain.
Meaning - applications built on Tau may utilize all the strengths of a blockchain architecture, including but not limited to the numerous benefits of decentralized models and smart-contract capabilities.
This is where the possibilities really begin to emerge.
For example: the knowledge contributed to Tauchain's repository becomes both monetizable for contributors and easily-accessible for utilization in a variety of applications, from consensus polls to research projects to DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) / automated business operations, and more - the value of which, becoming directly measurable, and the corresponding compensation able to be distributed back to contributors accordingly via smart contracts.
The first official application being developed for launch in tandem with Tau, Agoras, is being built (partly) for these purposes:
Now, while some of the basic pieces of the puzzle have been addressed above, there is another key aspect to Tauchain that while has not been labelled outright as such, could be viewed in the context similar to that as the description of Cyc above:
The distinction - and perhaps reason why the Tauchain team has not (yet) chosen to emphasize the A.I. component - is that it is not so much artificial intelligence in the sense most people understand/view it, but rather more something along the lines of augmented and/or automated intelligence - a set of tools enabling (comparatively) advanced automated commands & programs for purposes such as (though not limited to):
Now, for how all this shall be translated into such conceptual theory in a tangible user experience... time shall tell.
As with most other blockchains, Tauchain (and Tau Meta-Language) are merely a foundational layer upon which an infinite number of applications with both distinct and interconnected user interfaces may be developed for a wide range of industries, communities, institutions, markets, organizations, and groups of nearly any kind, public or private. Even Agoras' launch may only be a starting point, with any entrepreneur or developer able to connect into its knowledge economy for utilization in their own customized dapps - whether on Tau itself, Ethereum, or other third-generation blockchains.
From platforms and protocols to faciliate collaborative research between scientific institutions and/or economic thinktanks, to governmental decision-making in which citizen participation is able to be streamlined and incentivized, to entirely new breeds of social networks enabling the shift from simply consuming information and sharing content to engaging in and contributing to discussions - the direct value of our input derived via augmented intelligence, factored into consensus polls and problem-solving, and proportionately rewarded via smart-contracts - or all three of the above plus IoT (Internet of Things) sensor datafeeds interconnecting with each other...
The possibilities might only be limited to the imagination of the visionaries and system architects - nearly all developmental resources becoming fully-available, limited by neither language barriers nor traditional obstacles in scaling discussion between the human contributors.
These may be aspects of an integrated planetary vision which many pioneers in the blockchain space have already foreseen and have been working towards. However, the infrastructural components Tauchain aspires to deliver could play no less a fundamental role in the actualization of these shared goals and outcomes than the introduction of blockchain technology itself.
Of course, nothing is guaranteed.
It may be possible that even if the technical development of Tauchain is fully-completed, any variety of factors could restrict the adoption required to see the entire project through to success. Ultimately, it is not the initial innovation that shall drive the success of any blockchain project, but the ecosystem of developers building applications upon them and size/strength of userbase which determine whether Tauchain emerges victorious, or there shall be other ventures building upon the same core principles who can pull off the entrepreneurial side of network growth better.
Either way, it is clear that in the world of abundantly over-hyped blockchain projects claiming to be "game-changers," Tauchain may be among the handful of few well-deserving of that title to keep tabs on - if not hopping onboard as a stakeholder contributing to the project & vision, oneself...

In anticipation of Tau's demo some time around the end of this year, I'd be publishing a series of articles leading up to its release and beyond on Steem. If you would like to get to know what some of us think is going to be one of the greatest inventions of all time, I'd recommend you to check out http://wwwidni.org. It seems like a foundation that we've missed out on building together since the birth of the Internet.
A close resemblance of this project is the Semantic Web although some of us would place Tau as being far more ambitious in scope, oddly in a way that is likely more feasible with its ingenious use of a logic blockchain to power a decentralized social choice platform. I think it's impressive how singular the concept actually is, despite the unavoidable lengthy explanations that come paired with the many first-time features that Tau will provide.
Without further ado, let's explore this world-changing technology that is currently baking in the oven.
What is Tau?
Let's begin by first checking out the opening of IDNI's website at http://idni.org:-
Tau is a decentralized blockchain network intended to solve the bottlenecks inherent in large scale human communication and accelerate productivity in human collaboration using logic based Artificial Intelligence.
Sounds fairly straight-forward at first glance, and to me, it really stands out in the cryptosphere. We now have millions and billions of people using the Internet everyday, yet we still do not have any effective means of discussing and collaborating without being all over the place. Sure, we may have been pouring a lot of our time and effort into various platforms trying to connect with others, but have things been really any different compared to a time before the Internet?
The speed of information propagation has increased by orders of magnitude, and we can reach anyone on the planet now, but it's still really up to us to be present and be able to process information in our heads before turning them into relevant knowledge for our networks.
Expanding our social bandwidth.
Turns out, we have been experiencing a lot of trouble coming to terms with the chatter of billions of people in cyberspace. The bottlenecks inherent in our human bandwidth remain to be unsolved even with near-instantaneous communications. From governments to corporations and blockchain communities, we are all still facing the age-old problem of being unable to scale governance beyond the size of a classroom. It's just difficult to get our points across to many different people, let alone making sense of complex long-term discussions and making network-wide decisions collaboratively.
The introduction to The New Tau written by Ohad Asor explains our situation quite accurately:-
Some of the main problems with collaborative decision making have to do with scales and limits that affect flow and processing of information. Those limits are so believed to be inherent in reality such that they're mostly not considered to possibly be overcomed. For example, we naturally consider the case in which everyone has a right to vote, but what about the case in which everyone has an equal right to propose what to vote over?
So how is Tau actually going to solve our communications bottleneck? It will be through a highly bespoke and non-trivial implementation of a logic-based Artificial Intelligence (AI). It's worth noting that AI in this case is more of a buzzword for marketing-speak, and it is actually not of the same variety as the commercial implementations of deep machine learnig.
The distinction that must be made is that Tau is not the kind of AI that attempts to guess what the world is around them, including that of our opinions and the things we say or do. Instead, we must make the step towards communicating through Tau and what we choose to communicate will be as definite as computer programs. It can be thought of as a persistent logic companion that helps us improve the scale our reasoning, logic, and bandwidth.
We can take the time to share what we want to share on the Tau network and most of the logic-based connections and operations will happen in the background over time, even when we're not paying attention in-person. Again, the use of the word AI is a misnomer here because it usually paints the picture of AI agents attempting to mimic human autonomy. That's not what Tau is about. In this case, thinking about Tau as just a logic machine should provide better clarity on what it actually is.
The power of logic.
To expand, here's the second paragraph found in the opening of IDNI's website that explains Tau's paradigm in logic-based communications, http://idni.org:-
Currently, large scale discussions and collaborative efforts carried out directly between people are highly inefficient. To address this problem, we developed a paradigm which we call Human-Machine-Human communication: the core principle is that the users can not only interact with each other but also make their statements clear to their Tau client. Our paradigm enables Tau to deduce areas of consensus among its users in real time, allowing the network to boost communication by acting as an intermediary between humans. It does so by collecting the opinions and preferences its users wish to share and logically constructing opinions into a semantic knowledge base.
Indeed, Tau will offer a semantic social choice platform where we can discuss and store knowledge in a logical universe that helps us organize information, thereby empowering us in highly relevant ways. If you're worried about privacy, know that Tau is first-and-foremost designed as a local client with local processing and storage. The platform itself will be deployed as a decentralized peer-to-peer network, a place where we can connect and share our knowledge-base with anyone we desire.
The only price to pay in all of these is that we must speak in Tau-comprehensible languages, which can always be added and modified over time. A sophisticated language that can be defined over Tau may closely resemble natural languages, but it is really best to expect Tau as a machine-comprehensible language that only speaks in logic. Fortunately, logical formalism is something that we can easily deal with.
So it will be up to us to communicate with our local Tau client in a way that it'll understand our worldviews. When the machine understands what we share completely in some logical, mathematically-verifiable sense, it can then connect our dots with the rest of the Tau network, effectively boosting communications beyond the limits of human bandwidth, effectively scaling our points of discussion, consensus, and collaboration up to an infinite number of participants.
Code and consciousness.
Finally, we look at the last paragraph of Tau's introduction at http://idni.org
Able to deduce consensus and understand discussions, Tau can automatically generate and execute code on consensus basis, through a process known as code synthesis. This will greatly accelerate knowledge production and expedite most large scale collaborative efforts we can imagine in today's world.
Since Tau is a logic blockchain that powers a semantic social choice platform, we can leverage it to have both small and large-scale discussions about program specifications, detect points of consensus, and even generate software in the process. Being able to go from discussions to the realization of decentralized applications would mean inclusive code development for the masses. It's also a unique addition to decentralization that no other blockchain projects have even thought about.
Now that we may have come to a better understanding of Tau's emphasis on the use of logic in every part of its being, let's revisit the process description found in The New Tau to get closer to knowing what it really is about:-
We are interested in a process in which a small or very large group of people repeatedly reach and follow agreements. We refer to such processes as Social Choice. We identify five aspects arising from them, language, knowledge, discussion, collaboration, and choice about choice. We propose a social choice mechanism by a careful consideration of these aspects.
In short, Tau is a decentralized peer-to-peer network that takes the shape of a social choice platform, and it can become anything that we want it to be, for as long as it's expressible within the self-defining and decidable logics of FO[PFP] with PSPACE-complexity. This precise specification is required to satisfy the very definition of Tau as seen in the excerpt above. Tau is also intended to be a compiler-compiler.
This is taking application-generality into a completely different direction compared to blockchains that are built specifically with turing-completeness in mind, like Ethereum. Relevant literature to check out: Finite Model Theory.
Understanding each other.
While it's all highly technical and difficult to grasp in one seating, perhaps a better way to truly begin to understand Tau is to spend some time studying its main features. Or just wait for the product release. In any case, I will try to explore these topics in the future if my brain can still handle it:-
The more I think about Tau, the more I think that it is (poetically) a logical conclusion to the way the Internet works as a protocol. It even lives and breaths logic. Not just any kind of logic, but specifically, logics that can define their own semantics and is decidable. Tau is intelligently designed to be a truly dynamic and ever-evolving blockchain.
When the Tau community intends to make changes to the network code, rules or protocols, they will simply need to express these opinions and perspectives in a compatible language over the network. The self defining logic of the Tau blockchain network will enable it to detect the consensus among these opinions and automatically amend its own code to reflect this consensus from block to block. Unlike the common method of voting, Tau’s approach will take into account the perspectives of the entire community, where people will be free to vote and propose what to vote for in real time. This unique ability of Tau is the only decentralized solution to create a truly dynamic protocol.
Now you might think: Tau seems like a powerful tool but will it be too difficult to use for most people? There might be some learning curve involved for sure, and it'd be similar to learning a new language in the beginning. Those of us who learn to use it well enough to scale our discussions and collaborative works will likely gain a significant edge over those who are not using the platform. I'd imagine plenty of projects and communities around the world being able to overcome some of their obstacles in development through Tau. Hence, it may be fair to expect that market forces will gravitate towards the platform just like how we're all using the Internet these days.

As we can see from the current trend in crypto there is now a move toward privacy. Most people underestimate in my opinion the utility of these cryptographic advances. In this blogpost I will highlight a particular advance enabled by these new cryptographic (and hardware techniques such as trusted execution environment) which can be of massive benefit to the long term believers in Tauchain.
The problem: Anyone can copy the code Ohad writes if it's open source
So we have a problem with Tauchain where all of the code Ohad is writing with regard to TML is open source and on Github. This allows a competitor to simply steal his best ideas and in a sense rob the token holders who actually funded the development of the code. This happens very often as we see a new innovation in the crypto space and soon later we see a new ICO or a new group come out of no where acting as if they originated the technology. In some cases the new group may even be much more centralized, more secretive, and very well funded.
The solution: Secret contracts (private source code and execution)
The trusted execution environment allows for the protection of intellectual property rights on the hardware level. While sMPC (secure multiparty computation) can also achieve similar ends on the software level. The idea being that this provides a solution to idea theft where a community can keep certain critical pieces of code, data, algorithms, or other unique features secret. This creates an entirely new way to monetize knowledge, code, and ideas, which Agoras will be uniquely positioned to leverage.
Guy Zyskind of the Enigma Project provides the definition for what secret contracts are and how they work. The Enigma Project deserves credit for introducing this technology and for identifying a major problem in the cryptospace. Traditionally on Ethereum or all other current platforms when you release a DApp your code has to be open source. It is not possible to create a closed or private source decentralized app. In addition the app has to be executed in the open so all data running through it is public.
Strategic implementation of private knowledge and source code can allow Tauchain to maintain a dominant position
In most cases the world benefits if knowledge is shared. In fact I'm in favor most of the time of sharing as much knowledge as is safe. The problem with algorithms, source code, and certain kinds of knowledge is that by sharing that knowledge it provides a competitive advantage to people who have more financial resources. These individuals can simply see Github and copy. They can hire programmers to compete with Tauchain and Agoras developers and as long as the code is open there will be no real reason to buy the Agoras token long term.
What if the Tauchain development team and Agoras developers decide to implement private knowledge bases? What if it becomes possible to run code in a trusted execution environment so that other developers around the world cannot see the code or the algorithms? This would allow Tauchain to build Agoras in such a way that no other project will be capable of duplicating it. This would lock in the value backed by the community brainpower into the Agoras token making it a true knowledge token which cannot simply by copied with ease by another project.
In fact this is a strategy that developers making apps using Enigma's Secret Contracts are looking into as we speak. This competitive advantage of secrecy will change the landscape of the cryptospace. What does this enable for Agoras? Imagine an encrypted Github which developers can contribute to but only the developers can see the code? Imagine after the code is written that no one else can see the code if the code is set to run privately? This would allow developers to code in secret and have the code run on computers without anyone knowing what the code is.
This can open up security vulnerabilities but Tauchain can defend against these. In particular it matters what is private and what is public. Critical aspects can be private while security critical areas can always be kept public. There may even be ways to prove that the code doesn't behave in a certain way without actually sharing the code (using advanced cryptography). In fact my favored way of implementing this feature would be to timelock the release of the source code by a number of months of years.
The idea isn't to keep things closed forever or secret forever. Privacy is about access control and about keeping things secret long enough to maintain a competitive advantage. A time delay to unlock the source code for example could work. It is even possible to allow the community to use puzzle based time lock encryption to have to mine to get the source code released early (if there is a serious need or threat). In this way all secret blocks of code could be unlockable but not for free and this would make it less likely that the community will seek to unlock it unless there is a genuine reason (beyond just to steal ideas).

Strategic IP (intellectual property) is used by major corporations to give themselves a competitive advantage. The crypto community can do the same thing in ways the legal mechanisms can't do. In fact it can be done in a more fair and better way because often the people or companies awarded IP rights aren't the actual inventors. A knowledge economy is fantastic but if the knowledge is just harvested by big corporations monitoring the wide open network then it's going to be hard to bring value to a knowledge token.
UPDATE: Many people ask where to buy Agoras. The problem is it's not widely available on centralized exchanges. The only exchange I know that has it is Bitshares. So if anyone really wants to buy Agoras (AGRS) which is the token of discussion in this post feel free to buy it at:
42 million intermediate tokens total. Current price is: 0.00010700 BTC which is around 70 cents. This is the cheapest price I've seen it in a while because for a long time it was $1.50-$1.30 range. Amidst countless blockchain projects hyping themselves up as "the next big thing," there are a few that have been working under the radar that hold the promise - not in word, but in substance - of truly being revolutionary game-changers.
Such ventures have not yet often come into the spotlight. Partly, due to that their founders have focused first on the fundamentals of creating something that speaks for itself versus the all-too-common approach of prioritizing sensationalistic marketing. And partly, because the degree of innovativeness they represent - in tandem with a complexity in scope of the larger visions and implications of their success - does not always lend itself to an easy understanding upfront.
One such project - still very early on in its development, yet holding transformative potentials no less grand than those of Bitcoin and Ethereum as they birthed and evolved the blockchain landscape:
Until recently, with the launch of a new website that has successfully managed to articulate the project's vision much more clearly, understanding what Tauchain is striving to accomplish was a domain only a very few, highly-intelligent technically-inclined dared to tread. And prior to December 2018, there was no code - only an unproven concept spearheaded by a single Israeli developer, Ohad Asor, whom nearly all who've managed to connect with have declared to be one of the most brilliant geniuses they've ever met, possibly ahead of his time.
Just as Bitcoin introduced blockchain as an innovation radically altering the trajectory of our societal, economic, and technological evolution - and Ethereum continued in suit with its upgrades to expand in developing upon the vision with entirely new sets of capabilities for developing a range of decentralized applications and smart contracts - so too, may Tauchain be such a platform whose success proves comparable, the impact of which may bring quantum leaps in the Blockchain Revolution.
How and where to start in describing Tauchain...?
Well, were we to begin with the technical side of things, it'd be likely to lose 98% of the audience. So perhaps, a better starting point might be the bigger picture:
This generalized overview, however, still only barely scratches the surface.
While the intended ends may be that of a generic concept enabling drastically-increased efficiency in global collaboration, the means by which such is to be achieved entails a number of innovative component developments that each hold great significance and implications of their own.
While each may require deeper exploration to better grasp and begin piecing together into the bigger picture, the Tauchain website now offers an overview of key features which account for just some of what it to differentiate it from other blockchain platforms - and enable new collaborative capabilities not currently possible with currently existing technologies:
While it'd be possible to expand upon each in great detail - both in regards to the functionality and implications for their applications - this particular piece of writing is to serve as a basic introduction to some of the best, most-easily-accessible content written on Tauchain to-date.

Lo primero que nos encontramos es una ilustración donde se representa a Tau en medio de dos mundos (mundo natural y mundo evolucionado), a la izquierda una figura humana y a la derecha la sociedad. Ohad plantea un paradigma que es Humano-Maquina-Humano, el entendimiento entre nosotros con la ayuda de las maquinas para escalar las conversaciones.
Continuando hacia abajo aparece un resumen acompañado de una especie de raíces que simbolizan las conexiones neuronales que podría tener esta red de conocimiento. En esta explicación resumida vemos un futuro de consensos escalable que amplia el conocimiento a otro nivel.

Gracias a estas nuevas explicaciones para cada area, podemos entender cual es el potencial de Tau. El TML (el corazón de todo) definirá todos los lenguajes, para que cualquiera se exprese de la mejor manera que sepa y TML se encargará de convertirlo a otro lenguaje.
¿Predicados lógicos? Parece esa asignatura que te saltaste en el colegio!. Más adelante podemos ver a que se refieren con esto en la simulación animada de Tau cuando los usuarios escriben ?tema01 de esta manera.
Por primera vez en la historia humana al añadir más gente en las discusiones, aumentamos la productividad de estas, en vez de reducirlas como pasa normalmente.
Cuando Tau esté al 100% de sus capacidades, los grupos de trabajo ( de cientos o de miles) serán capaces de llegar a consensos en tiempo real y pedir que se rediseñe ese consenso en cualquier idioma del TML. Esta parte es importantísima porque no estamos hablando solo de idiomas humanos, hablamos de traducciones a idiomas de maquina como la programación, idiomas de contratos jurídicos, o idiomas artísticos como la música o las imágenes.
La clave del no estancamiento es la auto-enmienda, por parte de los usuarios, describirán en un lenguaje natural, como quieren que sean las reglas. Tau estará pendiente de tus conversaciones para entender, con el consenso de todos, que sus reglas se han de cambiar.
Simulación de Tau
Encontramos un video simulación que representa una futura interfaz de Tau en funcionamiento, una mezcla de red social y app de discusión. Excelente decisión por parte del equipo pues ayuda a entender mejor que es realmente Tau. Por primera vez podemos “tocarlo”. En el vemos a un usuario buscar entre varias propuestas de debate. Al elegir una propuesta, el usuario entra en una especie de reunion de trabajo donde se discute un asunto importante. Los usuarios dan su opinion, apoyan la de los demás y utilizan herramientas como el auto comentario o el resumen. Algo inaudito y fascinante!
Hoja de ruta
Una hoja de ruta aparece en esta pagina que seguro será una gran sorpresa para los seguidores del proyecto.
Aparecen todas las fases del proyecto con una descripción para cada una: TML, Alpha, Beta, Tau, Agoras. Pero o sorpresa! Tenemos fechas y compromisos inminentes. Por ejemplo, según la hoja de ruta, en la tercera quincena tendremos una demo de TML para probar amigos!
Se tiene la esperanza de completar el TML y Alfa de Tau a principios de 2019. Y la finalización de Agoras para principios del 2020.

Vuelvo a repetir que no es nada fácil imaginar algo que no existe, y con Agoras sucede lo mismo.
En mi humilde opinión Agoras será una herramienta donde coloca a cualquier jugador al mismo nivel. Pretende crear una economía justa para cualquier usuario.
es más probable que los jugadores más grandes necesiten alquilar millones de computadoras y estén dispuestos a pagar por el conocimiento único que posee el usuario-base, mientras que los participantes más pequeños pueden simplemente alquilar su poder de computación inactivo. Por lo tanto, podemos esperar que el dinero fluya en la dirección correcta: de los ricos a los pobres.
Un buscador será la base y tu podrás consultar y prestar el servicio de consulta a la vez. Será difícil para un usuario normal hacer más consultas que dar servicio de consulta, por lo tanto ganarás más de lo que gastes. Por otro lado las grandes potencias gastarán más consultas de las que generen, de esta manera el poderoso mantiene al pobre.
Por otra parte en la actualidad se a hecho una preventa y el resto del total de las 42 millones de monedas se prevé vender en una futura preventa.
Después de leer la pagina de Agoras nos podemos hacer una idea de la representación de la Ilustración en la cabecera. Una economía basada en el conocimiento humano que se expande libremente con la posibilidad de germinación y evolución.

El blog mantiene las ultimas entradas de Ohad y sirve de manual para el que quiera saber más sobre este ambicioso proyecto. Por suerte lo encontramos en Inglés, Chino y Español.
Nuestro objetivo es construir una sociedad mejor donde el conocimiento se pueda crear de manera más eficiente y distribuir mejor para resolver problemas complejos. Con la ayuda de las máquinas, podemos resolver el problema de escalamiento de conocimiento y opiniones. No más conocimiento olvidado o descartado, y no más restricciones en el descubrimiento y la transferencia de conocimiento.
Este equipo tiene buenas intenciones y un perfil profesional alto, está compuesto por todo tipo de gente y de diferentes nacionalidades.
No conozco un proyecto similar a Tau, nunca antes me hubiera imaginado capaz de poder ver una conexión al paradigma de unir todo el conocimiento humano en un solo núcleo, que sea capaz de crecer y que este sea accesible públicamente. No estamos frente a una Inteligencia Artificial, estamos frente a la próxima evolución del conocimiento.

Okay, dearest friends, lets pull sleeves up and start with it. Vivisection of the Scriptures? Revelation by transfiguration? Pulling the Tau from the ocean of wisdom out on the dry no-Maths-land? I hope not.
The quote above on first glance sounds so pompously biblical, but in fact it denotes the crystal clear and simple practical and mundane rationale of Tau which I already tried to approach from few angles , .
It is about the hierarchic bottleneck of one unscaling ,  Humanity. Take the hint about leveling of the Towers as a poetic symbol of elimination of the social 'verticality' -- the hierarchies as a so far necessary evil to compensate certain innate neurological limitations , , ,  -- and reforming  the network we are embedded into and usually call mankind or society or economy or world into an as geodesic as possibly possible one . For the sake of its own functional programmatic optimization .
Notice that towers leveling is not by demolition, but by uplifting the overall landscape level to and above the tower tops, turning them into deep roots or support pylons of asymptotically geodesic society .
Apparently, mentioning the Gate of God  denotes the unmixing  of languages & mentioning the apex global fiat settlement institution  - the excelling of the current fiat procrustics  i.e. the economy aspect.
That is: TML to Agoras . The first and last of the totally six identified aspects or steps of the social choice  as addressed by what we call Tau.

You, I reckon, already noticed this retrodictive inclination of mine , that in my mind the notion of ''Timeline of Development'' can not be by any logic just a handful of milestone promises thrown into the future, but it is a must to account for the up to now trajectory, too! No future without past.
It all started as Zennet , continued as Tau-chains  and 'turned' into aka 'newtau' , , , .
Wait! A New Tau?
Excuse me, Ohad, but I personally do not buy that and I said it many times. There ain't old and new Tau. The situation is much more straightforward and grokkable . Here it is:
Lotsa guts, balls, butt, brains or whatever human offal... is required for each of us to admit a mistake made in our everyday life. Generally quite a strength is needed to even look ourselves into the mirror...
It takes a whole Ohad though, to keep all oneself's work totally public and transparent even on the full and unedited live record of the infil  into entire branch of mathematics  and then throwing it all away as untauful. We witnessed that reported in real time!
Did this change the ends? No. But sorted out the means to an end.
Was it a 'mistake'? In no case. It was duly delivered R&D effort.
Was oldtau looking promising on first glance? Yes, of course it did.
Did it survive the Ohad's R&D 'crash-testing'? No, it didn't.
Was it a ''juice worth the sqweeze''? It was.
Was it a job well done? Absolutely.
The oldtau materials are for me legacy jewels. Like those dinosaur bugs trapped into blobs of amber .
Development is a process, not just results shipping. Related like cooking and serving.
Studying the zoom-out dev map we observe these few major landmarks:
The Zennet province is all right. Its gently rolling hills gradually merge into the Tau lands proper with the inevitable realization that a 'world supercomputer' can not be a Tauless thing. Zennet lives in Tau with .:

A review of "the last ten years' progress in the development of self-governing machines," describing "the principles that make the most complex automatic machines possible, as well as the fundamentals of their construction."
Nineteen fifties !! The midway between the first digital computer made by my half-compatriot John Atanasoff  and internet . Almost a human generation span between the former, the book and the later event. Epoch so deep in the past that even television, air travel, rockets and nukes ... were young then.
Same Kondratieff  wave phase btw, which hints towards the historical rhyming of socially important intellectual interests. (On how K-waves imprint on the humanity growth curve - in series of other posts to come).
I must admit here that I've never put my hands and eyes onto this book. But, it is stamped into my mind and memory by Stanislaw Lem  - one of the greatest philosophers of the XXth century, working under the disguise of a Sci-Fi writer, for being caught on the wrong side of the Iron curtain.
''Summa Technologiae'' (1964)  is a monumental work of Lem's, where most issues discussed sound more contemporary nowadays than they were the more than half a century ago when it was built, and for many things also we are yet in the deep past ...
... Lem reports and discussed the following from the aforementioned Pierre de Latil's book.:

The degrees of freedom of all the previous six according to the classical taxonomy of de Latil are confined by the rule-set, the local laws of physics.
They are prisoners of an universe. Like birds incapable to reconfig their cage into roomier and cozier ones.
If we regard the laws of nature as code or algorithm, my 7th level effector will be capable to draft and implement itself onto newer and stronger algorithmic foundations. ( Note the seamlessness between computation and robotics in Latil/Lem categorization construct - quite logical indeed, having in mind that software is state of hardware, that matter-form-action are inextricable from each other, but on this in series of other times and posts ... ). Tauchain y la hipótesis del Basilisco de Roko
Como seres humanos estamos limitados en lo que a conocimientos técnicos y teóricos se refiere, es por ello que nos servimos de experiencias filosóficas o alegorías para darle un sentido y una respuesta a preguntas trascendentales.
En este hilo sobre el basilisco de roko, se ha planteado una hipótesis y se la dado una forma de cuento o historia para así estimular nuestra imaginación. Tauchain según yo lo entiendo, no se parece en nada a un un ser maligno y vengativo. Es mas bien lo contrario, una catapulta para aptitudes humanas dormidas. La diferencia entre Tauchain y una IA, o un conjunto de agentes inteligentes con los que podemos interactuar, es que Tauchain no es oráculo, ni juez, ni verdugo, pues no juega a los dados.
Sea como fuere, el planteamiento expuesto guarda una innegable similitud con múltiples creencias religiosas, actuales y pasadas. Donde una posible simulación sería reflejada en un supuesto castigo infinito infernal, teniendo cabida cada individuo con “malas praxis”. Pudiendo existir eternamente en él como un clon en una simulación.
En tal caso muchos de los eventos que estarían ocurriendo hoy en nuestro planeta, tendrían explicación debido a la influencia de esta superinteligencia y eso daría sentido a los notables adelantos tecnológicos y a la sensación de cambio de paradigma que se ve al caer cual fruto maduro, no sería más que el basilisco intentando adelantar su llegada.
Si esto fuera cierto estaríamos hablando de una futura inteligencia artificial que interviene en nuestro pasado, no lo hace directamente para no afectar a su creación, sino que lo hace indirectamente para adelantar su llegada.
De la misma manera podemos debatir y reflexionar en ciertos puntos…
¿Se estaría encargando el basilisco de rehabilitar al ser humano o no le sería útil emplear energía para ello, al disponer de tiempo infinito?
¿Sería necesario tratar de forzar a los individuos a redimirse y actuar según su obligación moral?
Cabría destacar entonces que la idea se basaría en el mero castigo y la venganza, un sentimiento puramente humano.
Desde el momento de su planteamiento, el Basilisco de Roko suscitó una amplia polémica, debido a la naturaleza del argumento. Y se han dado casos, esto es verídico, de usuarios que, tras haber leído el argumento del Basilisco de Roko, han afirmado experimentar una gran angustia y ansiedad.
Esperemos que no sea éste tu caso, y que tengas a tu disposición cierto número de Agoras para probar tu apoyo a la creación de Tauchain y así poder escapar de la mirada de la serpiente.

In my humble opinion - aside from the ''reality intratextualization''  concept - the other wisdom jewel of Moravec's - fruit of a life devoted to robotics - is the Moravec's Paradox .

As I noted in a previous related post of mine , a system's value dynamics is all about how it scales. Preferable of course are systems which make more good to go around than less. Respectively, to come around.
Humanity is a network, and its scaling is stumbled by our innate attentional resources limitations.
Human social interaction is a skill and we naturally have only as much of it.
For now, in the good old hierarchic way , we can't deny that we scale satisfactory well (as compared, lets say, to our DNA-blockchain-fork-out first cousins the chimps ) for collaborating efficiently on successful execution of trivial tasks like empire building or colonization of the Galaxy.
But not all problems we encounter are simple. In fact most problems are more complex than we are capable to grok and master in the hierarchic collaboration mode, which quickly slams into the Shannon's 'brick wall' 
Ohad Asor's Tau  is intended to be humanity upscaler . This project is the first and only one I've discovered so far where the so obvious (after you know it) problem is even identified, stated and addressed.
This means uplifting the individual humans too, because we are literally AIs serially manufactured by our society (cf. feral children ).
It feels easy for us to attend, to remember, to forget, to think, to talk, to work together - so it is extremely Moravec-hard!
Tau is unique approach towards the Moravec-hardness of these problems in the realization that we do not need at all to waste time and resources to mimic nature and copy ourselves and to create high tech homunculi .
The 'problem' is the solution. Don't 'solve' it - just god damn use it!
It is the people who ask questions, upload statements, express tastes and do all that qualia  crap humans usually do.
The machine distills the semantic essence of all the shared thought flow, treats it as wishes specs, and automatically converts into executable code, incl. its own code self-amendment.
As Moravec found out few decades ago  :
The 1,500 cubic centimeter human brain is about 100,000 times as large as the retina, suggesting that matching overall human behavior will take about 100 million MIPS of computer power.
When these processing brain things are really put together in numbers the result is unprecedented power. An unstoppable force. A glimpse into it by Ohad :
It turns out that under certain assumptions we can reach truly efficiently scaling discussions and information flow, where 10,000 people are actually 100 times more effective than 100 people, in terms of collaborative decision making and collaborative theory formation. But for this we'll need the aid of machines, and we'll also need to help them to help us.
Without application of dehumanizing individual upgrades, without to be necessary to understand and reengineer the billions of years of evolutionary capital, but just harness it and use it. (Scaling itself must be scalable, too, ah?)
In my personal up to date limited understanding it seems that it is indeed the HUMANITY what's to be known as the Tau's 'Zennet Supercomputer', and the machines are the ... collab amplifier media, the 'internet' of it. (Ohad, correct me if I'm wrong, please.)

Tauchain is a profound project that has taken years of deep research and development. Some of the smartest people I've known on this platform highly recommended it, which is why it has been making me do a few things I've not been doing for a while now:-
So one of the first things I noticed in #idni's IRC channel is a cool-looking username "naturalog". While I'm pretty sure it just means natural logarithm, could it be natural OG instead? The natural, original gangsta? In casual parlance of course. Turns out, that's Ohad Asor's (the founder) nickname. What a smooth operator. That username is like wordplay: a mathematician with street cred. Too bad that Steem username is already taken.
The Natural OG
Reading through the logs I soon realised that I can trust his words. Why? Other than his experience, I think it's because I'm somewhat the same in nature. Not that I'm a genius with great knowledge and expertise like he is, but I do appreciate stuff like language, semantics, logic, and such. They're the kind of subjects which I think helps shape clear communication. It shows throughout his replies in the logs.
Many might not know it, but everything I say or type usually takes quite some time because I do try to be careful with words. Sometimes I even spend minutes to decide whether or not to say "could" instead of "would", amongst all of the other nuances in communication. Because, what else do we really have between us other than words? This is why writing is almost sacred to me.
The ability to question oneself and question one's choice of words are part of our learning process. Why do we really say what we say, or think what we think? Can't speak for everyone, but I expect introspective, lifelong learners to be more trustworthy when it comes to dealing with complex subjects. Plus, the obvious elements of the project seems to speak more about substance than hype:-
So all things considered, the project is unlikely to be a scam. If you search through the ~28 megabytes worth of IRC chatlogs, you will even find three ultra-rare instances of Ohad Asor aka naturalog mentioning "before it was cool". Look at the image below. Knowing his history and experience, I think it's safe to conclude that this dude is a certified OG. The natural OG. Total man crush! I might even ask him for some dating tips once he's done with the bulk of the development.

Just good to know that he might have had some influence in the creation of Graphene, Dan Larimer's creation for Bitshares that subsequently shaped both the inner-workings of Steem and EOS. Impressive indeed. It's a good sign for Tauchain / Idni Agoras. In contrast, I was still riding rollercoasters all day high on sweet carbonated drinks in Disneyland during the same age when Ohad Asor was already grinding like an OG, writing production-level software.
So it would seem like my investigation into the heart of Tauchain has quickly turned me into a huge admirer and fan of the project. It has never happened to me before to this extent, but I certainly don't mind given the project's scope and the main developer's character. It's at least a much better story than elevating irrational loonies and sensationalists with no appreciation of well-founded knowledge, which unfortunately is all too common in society these days. If anything would make the world a better place, it would be intellectual curiosity, not intellectual dishonesty.

Someone asked over social media why anyone would want to hold onto AGRS tokens merely due to faith in Ohad Asor. This is a good question to ask and a good time to ask it. I'll explain first why I'm holding and then explain how it is important to understand what you invest in.
I hold AGRS because I've communicated with Ohad Asor and he is one of the rare people who is better at research and development than I am. In fact, he is the best I've met so far in the crypto community at that specifically. R&D is the most critical component in software design and we see over and over again if they get that wrong projects are doomed. One of the strengths of Steemit, EOS, etc, is that Dan Larimer is very good at conducting both R&D and at writing the code.
Tauchain currently and unfortunately requires a Phd level understanding of computer science to get very excited about. This is not so good for people who do not really understand their investments but it means that you have the option to ask people who do have Phd level knowledge to either explain Tauchain to you or some aspect of these concepts which I'll list below.
The concepts to understand in order to see what Ohad is attempting on Github.
These concepts may be abstract but they all work together to allow for you the user to input both a document and a grammar into TML and receive a useful output. You have the power of partial evaluation with Futamura Projection. Without going into too much detail here, what it will allow is for the user to provide the input document defining the language and a source code. The first document is the "interpreter" to parse the source code.
So if we look at Github we can see Ohad has completed a rough yet functional implementation of the TML with partial fixed point logic and partial evaluation. The Earley parser takes the source code which is always a string, and parses it. This quote from Wikipedia explains it better:
In computer science, the Earley parser is an algorithm for parsing strings that belong to a given context-free language, though (depending on the variant) it may suffer problems with certain nullable grammars. The algorithm, named after its inventor, Jay Earley, is a chart parser that uses dynamic programming; it is mainly used for parsing in computational linguistics. It was first introduced in his dissertation in 1968 (and later appeared in abbreviated, more legible form in a journal).
In developing compilers we use the grammar to define the syntax of a programming language. TML will require a grammar defining the syntax of the language you want to use and also the source code which are the commands. The AST is an abstract representation of the source code and the logic is applied are part of the syntax analysis phase of compiling. If I did not explain this sufficiently, I apologize as this is again something complicated and requires a lot of prerequisite knowledge.
The point being that if you really want to understand why some of us are so excited about what Ohad Asor is attempting to do then the only way to truly grasp what is at stake is to do the necessary learning. Learn as much as you can about your investment. Study the concepts you have to study in order to keep up with what happens on Github. You don't have to trust the experts if you're willing to gather the knowledge to become an expert yourself. This means reading at minimum all the Wikipedia entries and at maximum it could mean spending hundreds of hours watching Youtube videos, reading academic journals, like some of us have been doing.
If you do not want to invest the time and energy to truly understand Tauchain then maybe it is better that you do not buy a token you cannot understand. Simply wait for it to reach a stage to where you can see what it can do for yourself before making a decision. Do not consider this post or these comments as investment advice but merely a suggestion to use caution with regard to how you spend your money if you do not understand what you are getting into.

In this article I would like to discuss the self-amending feature of Tau Chain (Tau), which I believe provides a better solution than the one proposed by Tezos.
A short summary about Tau
Tau will be a blockchain based computer network, aimed at supporting collaboration between people. It will be designed like any other social network you know (Facebook, Twitter, etc.); but on Tau, users can interact with each other using machine-comprehensible languages. Specifically, advanced users will be able to define new knowledge-representation languages simply by translating it to Tau’s metalanguage (TML). As the languages use logic, they will be understandable by both machines and humans.
Since Tau can “understand” the entire conversation, it can also translate the discussions into various languages and discover where people agree or disagree; then, it may present the content of the conversation in different forms (languages or formats) for each user, based on specific requests.
The ability of Tau to logically understand discussions (as it will be translated into its TML) will assist users in four important ways:

“Tau, is a discussion about Tau”
Tau is a social platform that will assist users with writing and amending code based on users' discussions about a computer program. But Tau is a computer program by itself. Therefore, by discussing Tau, users will be able to amend Tau, whenever they (the community) reach an agreement about changing Tau’s protocol.
When Ohad Asor, the founder and developer of Tau Chain, mentioned that “Tau, is a discussion about Tau”, he meant that Tau is what the community decides when they discuss Tau. Meaning, when the community will face a decision, such as what Tau’s block size should be, they will just need to express their opinions and perspectives, like we do today in the social networks. Tau will organize the conversation in an efficient way to promote a solution that will represent what the community desires. As such, Tau will be the only dynamic decentralized social network.
Why is Tezos developing only a short-term solution?
You probably remember Tezos as one of the biggest ICOs in history, when they raised $232 million (when BTC price was ~$2,500). Like Tau, Tezos is also a dynamic protocol that can change itself based on users' agreements. Tezos considers voting to be the optimal solution to reach a decision between users.
Voting is a good method to include a large number of people in the decision-making process; however, voters have limited influence, as they can only choose between a few solutions/options presented to them. Who will decide when and why the community will vote? Who will decide what solutions the community can vote for? Tezos’ solution is still centralized and is only viable in the short-run. What will happen if some users do not agree with a specific vote? Does that mean that a Tezos fork is inevitable?
Without considering the perspectives of the entire community, we will not be able to reach a decentralized decision that benefits all users. Tau’s ability to scale discussions is the only decentralized solution to create a true dynamic protocol. Tau will enable all users to express their opinions by just discussing or communicating their views. Users will decide when and what to discuss, and Tau will change its protocol based on users' agreements. Thus, Tau will be able utilize all data in the decision-making process; data that is usually wasted when holding a vote.
To make it more tangible, think about the difference between discussing with your family which movie you’re going to watch and receiving a list of two movies to choose from. The latter might not reflect your taste in movies or how you want to spend your time. This is a low-scale analogy for Tezos’ voting solution. Tezos might provide a solution, but the solution is not optimal. When encountering a large-scale decision, the protocol will be changed based on the vote, but the minority might reject the vote and fork the coin.
Under Tau, the protocol will detect the core consensus among the different perspectives and change accordingly. With the assistance of Tau and its knowledge, users will effectively discuss among themselves how to reach further consensus points. With every consensus point, Tau will change itself accordingly.
*As the community members decide how Tau will be developed, they can suggest the majority rule (or a higher bar) as a decision rule. Tau will automatically detect the different perspectives of the community members and will execute their decision to change Tau’s protocol.
Another important aspect of Tau (compared to Tezos) is the fact that Tau will present its users with output about all the network input. All the data/opinions/information that users provide during their discussions will be accumulated to the knowledge archive. Tau will utilize its knowledge to provide its users with a better access for qualitative and quantitative information. Over Tau, the proposals (such as suggestions to change the protocol) that users will raise can be as wise as the information contained in the entire network.
I will end this article by quoting the last paragraph in my first article:

What is Tau-Chain?
The purpose of this article is to demonstrate how Tau-Chain (Tau) can be implemented in practice. I have already presented Tau and its four-step roadmap in my previous article, but I think that further explanation about Tau is required to better understand its applications.
Tau is basically a discussion platform (like any other social network you know) with two significant innovations:

How Tau can be implemented in practice?
Tau will be a free, open-source platform to advance and execute knowledge. Think about it as a one-stop shop that provides free consulting services, in all areas, to large numbers of people. For example, if you would like to start an enterprise but you lack the relevant business skills, Tau can answer your questions and even perform a market research or analysis (if initial data is provided) to evaluate your business opportunity.
In order to better understand how Tau can improve our society, I am providing below a detailed example showing how I see the vision implemented in practice.
Suppose Alice and Olivia are Ph.D. students in computer science who face a problem with their research. They use Tau to discuss the details of their data, findings and hypothesis. Tau will automatically translate this information into its metalanguage, adding Alice and Olivia’s data to the knowledge archive. Tau is basically the third member in the conversation, and can guide Alice and Olivia to advance their research by interpreting the data and suggesting improvements to their findings. If the students would like to implement the research and develop computer software, Tau will assist them with writing the code in the most efficient way. Using Tau, Alice and Olivia can overcome the limits of their knowledge to quickly complete and implement their research.
But how can people profit from sharing their knowledge?
There is another way for Tau to deepen its knowledge and develop better intelligence. Tau can gain knowledge from the Knowledge Marketplace (Agoras), a blockchain based smart contracts platform where individuals are able to generate income by sharing knowledge and information. With every transaction and exchange of knowledge, Tau will be exposed to the data to become more “educated” and accurate, resulting in a better knowledge deduction capability.
I know that smart contract platforms already exist, but they all lack very important capabilities – the ability to auto-verify the data, run quality assurance tests and suggest improvements to eliminate potential disagreements between the parties to a contract. Tau’s artificial intelligence will support the transaction between the two parties, and will make sure that there will be no fraudulent activities, inaccurate information or low-quality services. This will be the only platform where a computer that acts human (without human deficiencies) will supervise and support such transactions.
The following example demonstrates a possible application of Agoras:
Consider Bob, a software developer who has recently signed a smart contract with David to design a new software program. When Bob shared his code in the Knowledge Marketplace (Agoras), Tau verifies the relevancy of the code and will even suggest improvements to advance the code, eliminating a potential disagreement about quality and fraud. Upon Tau’s approval, Bob will receive his reward, as agreed in the contract. Tau will use the final code as additional knowledge to strengthen the platform’s intelligence.
As described above, the compensation mechanism will incentivize users to contribute their knowledge to advance ideas of others. Thus, we create a society in which individuals’ knowledge and expertise become public domain and can be better utilized to promote social health, welfare and resources.
I provided only a few examples of how Tau and Agoras can by implemented in practice. My examples were computer-science related, but you should realize that Tau-Chain can advance ideas and produce knowledge for every collaborative human endeavor across all fields, including sciences, business and government. Think about a situation where you have a problem and need some help – this is where Tau can assist you with solving your problem and even execute the solution if required and applicable.
Just to clarify, Agoras is also the name of the tokens that users will use in the Knowledge Marketplace (the smart contract platform). Agoras tokens holders will also benefit from developments that will be built as part of Tau’s ecosystem, including a Computational Resource Market (“Zennet”), Distributed Search Engine and a Derivatives Trading Platform.

The Crypto-Currency Market
With the fluctuation in the price of Bitcoin, there are more voices claiming that the crypto-currency market is a bubble, warning investors about the risks of investing and possibly losing their funds. One of the claims is that virtual coins have no real value. However, by carefully studying this market, the potential investor will discover that some projects include technology, innovation, true vision and strong community, thus creating a fiscal value like that of other successful startup companies.
Today, it is difficult to predict which coin will secure a place among the top currencies on Coinmarketcap. There are large number of projects and buzz-words, used in fancy websites and white-papers, which make it challenging to extract the relevant information and make educated investments. In addition, there are projects that work “under-the-radar” and are very technical to comprehend, discouraging potential investors.
I would like to discuss one of these technical projects that works under-the-radar, without a fancy website or extensive marketing campaign but with brilliant innovation and fast-growing community. The name of the project is Tau-Chain (Agoras tokens on Coinmarketcap), developed by Ohad Asor.
Tau is a collaboratively self-amending program designed to scale human collaboration and knowledge building. To further clarify the explanation, think about a platform that can develop any computer program the user desires, based solely on discussions with his or her team about the program’s specification and development. The use of such a platform can change not only the crypto-ecosystem, but all branches of science.
Tau’s vision has a long way to go. However, Ohad has developed a detailed roadmap to achieve his vision. Tau will be developed in four stages, as follows:
Tau Meta Language (TML): TML is the base language that will enable all users to interact with each other, no matter what computer language they speak. Think about it as the technology behind Google Translate, but for computer languages, or as Ohad calls it: “the Internet of Languages”.
Alpha: Alpha is a social platform that promotes discussions between infinite numbers of users. Today, an effective conversation cannot be held when too many people take part in the decision-making process (that is why democracy was created). However, Alpha will be able to scale these discussions and detect logical points of consensus between users, thus enabling better knowledge sharing and construction.
Beta: Beta will advance Alpha to enable the development of computer programs, based on user discussions in the platform. To make this more tangible, think of Wix.com where anyone can easily develop a website, even without the technical expertise. With Beta, the code for any computer program will be developed based on specific instructions that the user provides.
Tau: Tau is where blockchain is introduced, thereby creating a decentralized platform (the Tau-Chain), compared to the centralized Beta. Tau will be self-amending and will be able to deduce knowledge based on the information submitted by its users. In its final stage, Tau will amplify the creation of knowledge for its users, advancing current human-knowledge, research and development in different disciplines, such as physics, mathematics and computer science.
The reasoning behind designing the roadmap in four stages is that each stage can support the advancement of the next one. This year we expect the development of the first two stages, TML and Alpha, to be completed. Using Alpha’s discussion platform, an infinite number of developers can join the project to build Beta, expediting its go-to-market date. After Beta is developed, it will only be a matter of time until Tau is completed as all technical challenges will be resolved using Beta.
The legal entity behind this operation is called “IDNI” (Intelligent Decentralized Networks Initiatives), which is composed by Tau’s development team and support units.
So, what is Agoras?
While Tau creates a true knowledge society, Agoras is about creating true monetary knowledge, by powering the ecosystem built via Tau. Agoras will be used to execute the applications of Tau, Zennet (Computational Resource Market), derivatives trading platform and further developments to be built as part of Tau’s ecosystem.
There are 42 million agoras in total. Most of the tokens were sold by Ohad during 2017. The sold tokens, named IDNI Agoras, represent the future Agoras coins holders will receive upon the completion of Tau (fourth stage), where the blockchain is introduced.
The current price of one IDNI Agoras is around ~$2 (traded on Bittrex), which has shown a steady growth throughout the development of the project. The initial code that was released as a proof of concept strengthened the confidence of investors in Tau, compared to competing projects.

Ohad Asor, creator of Tau Chain/Agoras, has recently published the long awaited blog post detailing his vision for what very likely is the most ambitious project in the crypto space: Tau.
Tau will accelerate human endeavors by overcoming long ingrained limitations in our collaborative processes; limitations which we rarely even question.
The Problem of Social Governance
Take social governance, for example. As individuals, we have opinions over a wide variety of social issues. Perhaps you feel that the speed limit on certain roads is too high, or that programming should be a compulsory subject at public schools, or that everyone would benefit if cryptocurrencies were officially recognized and endorsed by the state.
However, you have no idea how to get these concerns across to the general public. I mean you could try writing a letter to your local representative or signing a petition but ultimately that's unlikely to gain much traction. Meanwhile, the very same issues that seems to have divided the nation over the past decade remain at the forefront of our political debate. Immigration, climate change, abortion, gun control etc. are all important issues of course, but very little progress have been made considering the amount of time, resources and attention that have been devoted to them.
So the problem with traditional forms of social governance, such as democratic voting, is apparent: on the one hand it has difficulty identifying and addressing the wide range of opinions different people hold, on the other hand, even with respect to the small number of issues that do end up bubbling up to the surface, it isn't particularly efficient at detecting consensus.
The central cause of this problem is that current modes of discussion are not scalable. There are inherent limitations in the way we're able to communicate our views across to each other; namely, human ability to comprehend and organize information is the main bottleneck. We cannot possible follow multiple conversations at once, or recall everyone's propositions once there are more than a handful of people in the mix. This is why most collaborative decision making bodies in practice are generally quite small in number: the President's cabinet, Supreme Court Justices, boardroom directions of a fortune 100 company etc.; you just can't have a productive discussion with 50 people. Our entire civilization is structured around this very limitation: discussions don't scale.
Scaling Collaborative Discussions Under Tau
Imagine if we can overcome this limitation; what will it mean for social governance? By using a self defining, decidable logic, the Tau network is easily able to keep track of every user's propositions and detect consensus automatically. Note that making a proposition is exactly the same as voting for that very same proposition: when you're proposing 'dogs should always be on a leash in public unless in a park' you're in effect putting in a vote for such a proposition. This way, countless issues, regardless of how technical or niche, can be assessed through the network concurrently, and social consensus can be detected on the fly. The Tau network can scale social governance by overcoming one of the greatest limitation in human communication of ideas by delegating the task of logically making sense of everybody's propositions to the computer. A simple use case of this will be the rules of the Tau network itself: through a self defining logic, Tau is able to detect consensus among its users from block to block, altering its own rules to conform to the choices of the user base.
The benefits of scaling discussions are not limited to just a more efficient form of social governance. Logic isn't merely about detecting surface level consensus, the network can easily form further deductions from everyone's propositions. If one states 'all men are mortal' and 'Socrates is a man', one can deduce that 'Socrates is mortal.' But deductions can be very deep and non trivial. Imagine if we had a group of 1000 mathematicians all inputting their mathematical insight as propositions. Tau can rapidly detect who agrees with whom on what, and deduce every logical consequence of their combined wisdom; in effect arriving to new truths and insights. In other words, Tau greatly accelerates the production of new knowledge. This will, of course, also work if you have physicists, doctors, engineers, computer scientists, indeed experts in every field working together on the platform. By scaling collaborative discussions in a logical network, Tau is able to scale the creation of knowledge.
When Tau comes into effect, any company, government, and indeed any organization not using this new network will be rendered obsolete. Tau aims to become an indispensable technology.
And this is only the alpha of Tau.
I will talk about the beta in a future posts. The beta will revolve around not just the scaling of discussions and consensus, but the automation and execution of code based of the results of those discussion. Something Revolutionary In the Crypto Space.
The overwhelming majority of new crypto projects out there fall into 3 main categories:
Now the trillion dollar question is this: is just having a currency or shoving a Turing Complete programming language into the blockchain to allow for smart contracts truly the best use of this decentralized innovation? Ohad Asor, creator and lead developer of Tau, does not think so.
What Is Tau?
Before I start I have to make a confession: I don't truly understand Tau. But I feel that I don't understand it slightly less than people who don't know about it at all, so I'll have a go at explaining it.
Tau is a platform that is designed to scale human collaboration and knowledge building.
Almost every significant piece of technology to date (that isn't about accelerating physical labor) has been primarily focused on the disseminating information or data. The wheel, roads, telephones, the internet are all indispensable achievements that have served to aid getting information from A to B.
But the real value isn't in the data itself, it's from the organization of the information within that data into useful knowledge. While the mere distribution of information is an important step to scaling human progress, it's also only part of the picture. The next step has typically been up to us, the human actors, to use our little brains to distill that information manually until we produce knowledge;
Tau is the first piece of serious technology that is aimed to not only automate the collection of information, but also the production of knowledge, unless you count Netflix's 'AI' recommending 'The Human Centipede' after your toddler has just watched 'A Bug's Life', as successful knowledge discovery made by a machine. Tau is about the industrialization of knowledge creation via taking some of the burden of logical reasoning from us humans and giving it to the machine.
What Can Tau Do?
Ohad has spent years researching and developing Tau. The design is centered around creating a self defining, decidable logic that is expressible under pspace (which is mathematically shown to be the most expressive any self defining and decidable language can be), that will act as a metalanguage for all programming languages defined under Tau.
A trivial example of what this can directly lead to is secure smart contracts. Smart contracts operating under Tau cannot ever give rise to something like the DAO hack - decidable programming languages means one can anticipate the entire spectrum of possible consequences of the code before running it, allowing us to avoid anything unintended. But reliable and secure smart contracts are only a tiny fraction of what the platform can truly offer.
The power of Tau's design will allow it to boast some truly wondrous features including:
Ohad has yet to fully explain how this will be achieved, but by far the most difficult part is creating the initial decidable, self defining logic system that serves as a metalanguage. Many had their doubts but yesterday Ohad announced that the first and most difficult step towards this end has been achieved. The code he has written is a working version of the Tau Meta Language which correctly computed a transitive closure graph. This is a proof of concept of the great things to come!
Now that the initial code is released, Ohad is working on a set of explanations about Tau which will outline it's features and how it'll be able to achieve them in more detail. Tau is notoriously difficult to explain, but it's definitely worth the effort to understand it. I'll keep you updated when his explanations are released.
Who Is The Lead Developer Ohad Asor?
Ohad Asor is a programmer, computer scientist, mathematician and logician from Israel. He attended university at the age of 13 and has extensive experience (30+ years) in programming and mathematics.
Most people know me as the clown on here who just writes jokes along the lines of taking his mom to the prom after his cousin rejected him or some shit, but I sat my university entrance exams at 16 and scored in the top 0.5% of Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank and took a prestigious course at a well known university. I only bring this up to show that I've had no shortage of dealings with what ordinarily would be considered to be extremely intelligent people, but Ohad is on a completely different level.
Ohad Asor is, quite frankly, the most intelligent and knowledgeable person with whom I've ever interacted. There are many geniuses and child prodigies out there, but Ohad has spent virtually every minute of his waking moments studying up until this point in his life, and he likely has an IQ of over 5 standard deviations above the mean to begin with. I have spoken to him and followed his project over the past 8 months, and my assessment and admiration of his abilities has only increased over this time period.
Here is a short video of him explaining the old design of Tau and some of its features. The information is dated as the new design is far superior, but these features remain.

How Do I Invest In Tau?
Tau itself has no tokens but Ohad is also building Agoras, the first automated marketplace over the Tau collaborative platform. Agoras tokens are currently traded on Bittrex. It has one of the fairest distributions in the cryptosphere and Ohad is only reserving 3% of the tokens for himself. None of that 20% for the founders, 10% for the developers, 20% for the foundation, 15% for the founders' penis enlargement fund bullshit.
Agoras has made considerable gains over the last few weeks but it's total market cap is still under 100 million at the time of writing, which, to me, represents an incredible opportunity for something potentially revolutionary. If we woke up tomorrow without Bitcoin, things would more or less continue as they did, but if we woke up tomorrow without electricity, the world would be an entirely different place. Indeed Tau aims to be the latter: a truly indispensable piece of technology, which is a status that no crypto project has yet reached.

It’s turning out to be another exciting and productive week! The Omni Foundation is privileged to provide a platform to so many innovative projects. Omni allows for the issuance of Smart Properties and assets on the Bitcoin blockchain, and we like to share some of the leading projects using the platform and protocol.
Today, I would like to introduce TAU CHAIN.

Tau-chain is a fully decentralized P2P network being a generalization of many centralized and decentralized P2P networks, including the Blockchain. Its interpretations, uses, and consequences are far from being a P2P network only, and include software development, legal, gaming, mathematics and sciences, logic, crypto-economies, social networks, rule-making, democracy and votes, software repositories (like decentralized Github+Appstore/Google Play), decentralized storage, software approval and verification, even “doing your homework in History or Math” in some sense (stronger sense that search engines), and many more aspects.
Tau Chain uses the language of Ontologies to unify the languages of:
The Software Client
a) Stores the ontology of local rules
b) Determines the actions using a REASONER
a) Are tools that infer new rules or conclusions based on old ones
b) This is done intelligently, using pure logical reasoning + supply proofs of the results.
TAU CHAIN NODE – is therefore, an intelligent agent that is able to communicate with other agents, at the very same language which is human readable.
TAU CHAIN NODE can communicate with other languages, like HTTP, once implemented in RDF.
τ -chain node is an intelligent agent able to communicate with other agents, at the very same language they’re written with, which is quite human-readable. It can communicate with other languages as well, like HTTP, once implemented in RDF.
The rules of the network are determined by its users. Conversely, many independent “universes” can be created over τ -chain, that may or may not share τ ’s timestamping. They can also reference to each other, allowing code-reuse: recall that rules are code, since Tau Chain has a unified language. Moreover: it provides an ability to implement Decidable computer programs with RDF, namely DTLC languages rather Turing Complete ones.
The implications τ -chain node is an intelligent agent able to communicate with other agents, at the very same language they’re written with, which is quite human-readable. It can communicate with other languages as well, like HTTP, once implemented in RDF.
Arrow of time is brought into the network using the Blockchain algorithm. Items can get into a Merkle tree that will be signed by a miner, roughly speaking.
The network will also function an RDF-speaking distributed storage, namely Kademlia DHT, letting hashes of items to be time-stamped in a mechanism which is up to the rules of those languages will be described later on.
